Gold mourning ring with chased hoop shank which splits into tri-part shank attached to central square mount; mount contains braided hair and is framed by 13 small pearls.

Mourning jewelry was made popular in Great Britain and the United States in the nineteenth century by Queen Victoria (1819-1901), who mourned the death of her beloved Prince Albert (1819-1861) for the rest of her life.
