The subject of this miniature is traditionally believed to be a daughter of Governor DeWitt Clinton and Maria (Franklin) Clinton (1775-1818). It probably represents either Juliana (b. 1811), their seventh child, or Julia Catherine (1817-1839), their tenth and last child.
