Description:
One of a pair of "Battersea" enamel knobs with circular faces; each with painted enamel center decorated with British ship and lettering: "ADMIRAL NELSON/VANGUARD/74 GUNS/Augst. 1 1798"; enamel set into circular stamped brass face with beaded edges; turned post with threaded screw at end.
Gallery Label:
The "Vanguard" was Admiral Horatio Nelson's (1758-1805) flagship in the Battle of the Hill, August 1st, 1798.
