Iron spike mounted on wooden block and labeled with brass plaque reading "GRANITE STATE".
Gallery Label: 
The wood block upon which the spike is mounted may be timber fron the battleship U.S.S. Granite State, built in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1819. The ship was renamed the U.S.S. New Hampshire in 1864 and served in the Civil War.
