Gilt bronze struck medal with obverse showing bust-length portrait of man in Turkish court dress, within recessed central roundel, surrounded by elaborate border of military trophies interspersed with inscribed cartouches; legend: "ABDUL-MEDJID-KHAN EMPEREUR DES OTTOMANS." Reverse depicts draped seated winged female figure of Fame, in the process of writing onto pyramid: "VICTOIRE/NAPOLEON/1854./LA MER NOIRE/ET LE/DANUBE SERONT/LIBRES"; legend above: "LA FRANCE ET L'ANGLETERRE UNIES POUR LA DEFENSE DU DROIT."; inscription in exergue: "DIEU LE VEUT."
