Description: 
A bronze colored metal coin embossed on the front with a domed, columned stone building surrounded by the words "Merchants Exchange". Embossed on the reverse, "New York Joint Stock Exchange Company/ No. 6 Tontine Building/ Wall Street".
Gallery Label: 
The Merchants Exchange building at 55 Wall Street was rebuilt between 1836-1842 after being destroyed during the Great Fire of 1835; in the 1850's the exchange failed and the building became the Custom's House until 1907, when it was converted to the Regent Hotel. The medal is pierced at the top for hanging.
