Description:
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing rocky landscape with remote railroad station building and trains at top; inscribed at bottom center: "Pike's Peak." Reverse bears inscription in central roundel surrounded by open laurel wreath: "IN HONOR/OF THE/BRAVE MEN/WHO VICTORIOUSLY/DEFENDED THE UNION/ON LAND AND SEA/DURING THE WAR/OF THE/GREAT REBELLION/1861-1965"; legend within beaded border: "39TH NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT G.A.R./DENVER SEPT. 1905." Lid and bottom of square red cardboard case with pasted newspaper article.
