Copper struck medal with obverse showing right-facing bust-length prolife of Dewey; legend: "ADMIRAL G. W. DEWEY". Reverse shows eagle atop cross ed cannons over American flag and Army insignia; legend: "33D NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT G.A.R./ PHILADELPHIA/ SEP 4-9/ 1899". Hole punched at top.
