Brass struck medal with obverse showing statue on plinth of right-facing horse with rider; legend: "UNVEILING GRANT STATUE/ APRIL 27TH/ 1899/ PHILADELPHIA". Reverse shows battleship at sea; legend: "WELCOME RALEIGH'; in exerg." U.S. CRUISER RALEIGH". Two loops fused at top right and left.
