Description:
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing sailing ship at sea behind eagle on anchor; legend: "EXPLORATOR FORTISSIMUS IN PONTO SYLVISQUE FLORUIT". Reverse shows woman at left and soldier at right flanking Seal of South Carolina, with angel flying above with trumpet; legend: "THE WOMEN OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO / LIEUT. VICTOR BLUE U.S.N. / IN HIGH APPRECIATION OF HIS / COURAGE ENTERPRISE AND / DISTINGUISHED SERVICES / IN THE SANTIAGO DE CUBA / CAMPAIGN / 1898".
