Bronze struck medal with obverse showing left-facing hatted bust-length portrait of Columbus holding unrolled map, within ornate garland border; legend: "CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS/ BORN 1456 * DIED 1506." Reverse shows eagle above sun with rays over view of buildings and water in background; in right foreground, seated draped female figure with flag shield and standing draped female figure with headdress; legend: "SOUVENIR WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION, CHICAGO, U.S.A. 1892-1893."; in exergue: "1492-1892/ IV. CENTENNIAL"
