White metal struck medal with obverse showing kneeling figure with flag on beach surrounded by other figures and two ships at sea in background; legend: "COLUMBUS DISCOVERING AMERICA/ 1492." Reverse shows Statue of Liberty in background, battleship with flags in middle ground, sailor at left foreground, soldier at right foreground. Hole punched in top.
