Description:
Silvered bronze struck medal with uniformed bust of Oliver H. Perry facing left with legend: "OLIVERUS HAZARD PERRY. PRO PATRIA VICIT/PRESENTED/BY THE GOVERNMENT/OF PENNSYLVANIA." Reverse shows naval combat scene with eagle flying overhead, holding streamer labelled "VICTORY"; legend: "WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY; AND THEY ARE OURS."; inscription in exergue: "BRITISH FLEET ON LAKE ERIE./CAPTURED SEPTEMBER 10.1813."
