According to the accession notes, this locket was presented to Jenny Lind by Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Gray Ward in whose home in Boston she was married to Otto Goldschmidt on February 5, 1852. The daguerrotypes it contained, now ruined, were of George Washington and Daniel Webster, whom Lind admired. Lind's daughter, Mrs. Raymond Maude, gave the locket to the donor in London in 1925.
