Copper-plated lead electrotype of William Washington medal with obverse showing Washington on horseback leading his troops, with winged figure of Victory overhead holding laurel wreath above his head; legend: "GULIELMO WASHINGTON LEGIONIS EQUIT. PRAEFECTO"; inscription below exergual line: "COMITIA AMERICANA." Reverse contains inscription within laurel wreath: "QUOD/PARVA MILITUM MANU/STRENUE PROSECUTUS HOSTES/VIRTUTIS INGENITAE/PRAECLARUM SPECIMEN DEDIT/IN OUGNA AD COWPENS/XVII.JAN. MDCCLXXXI."
