Bronze struck medal with obverse showing Stewart being presented with a palm branch by a Native American, with legend: "JOANNI STEWART COHORTIS PRAEFECTO" and inscription below exergual line: "COMITIA AMERICANA." Reverse shows a battle scene with legend: "STONEY-POINT OPPUGNATUM" and insctiption below exergual line: "XV JUL.MDCCLXXIX."
