Description: 
Porcelain jar with domed cover topped by dog finial; "Imari" style with birds and flowers in dark underglaze blue and peach, red and orange enamel and gold.
Gallery Label: 
Part of the furnishings of General John Maunsell's house at 14 Broadway at the end of the 18th c. Left by his widow to her niece, Mrs. James Beekman in 1815, and used in the olde Beekman mansion on the East River at 252nd (?) Street. Willed to her great-niece (a namesake, and the mother of the donor) in 1833.
