White metal struck medal with obverse depicting clothed bust of Garfield facing left with legend: "JAMES A. GARFIELD/THE NATION'S/CHOICE/FOR PRESIDENT, 1880." Reverse contains inscription at center: "JULY 2ND 1881 [within laurel wreath]/'DANGER/THAT FOUND HIM/FAITHFUL,/CROWNS HIM/GREAT' "; legend above: " 'FOR HIM THE CIVIC WREATH." Hole punched at center top.
