Blue wool and white cotton double cloth jacquard coverlet composed of two vertical sections hand-sewn together; alternating star-centered and diamond-centered floral medallions interspersed with eight-pointed stars and stylized eight-petaled flowers; picket fence and rose tree border on three sides; woven inscription along edge of lower border, and lion and inscription in each lower corner.
According to the accession records, this coverlet was spun and woven by Mary Salisbury, an ancestor of the donor. However, it is more likely that it was woven for her, possibly by Harry Tyler, a professional weaver active in Butterville, Jefferson County, NY.
