"The Historiscope Panorama and History of Americas" panorama in a cardboard box with window cut in top to reveal a series of views that are printed on a long strip of paper housed on two spools and rotated with cranks (cranks missing); views are polychrome representations of important scenes and events in American history; the top of the box around the window is printed to look like a theater.
American history is livelier when viewed at the theater. This scroll, whose images appear on a "stage," incorporates scenes from the European discovery of America to the surrender of the British at the end of the Revolution.
