Copper-plated lead electrotype of medal awarded by Congress to Nathaniel Greene; obverse with legend: "NATHANIELI GREEN EGREGIO DUCI COMITIA AMERICANA" with bust of Greene facing left; reverse with legend "SALUS REGIONUM AUSTRALIUM" and "HOSTIBUS AD EUTAW DEBELLATIS DIE VIII SEPT MDCCLXXXI" with image of winged victory.

This is a cast of one of the "Comitia Americana" medals awarded by Congress to heroes of the Revolutionary War between 1776 and 1781. General Nathaniel Greene was honored by Congress in 1781, but the original gold medal was not struck until 1787.
