Description:
Pewter struck medal with obverse showing Native American princess, symbolizing America, crowning the victorious general with laurel wreath; legend: "DANIELI MORGAN DUCI EXERCITUS"; inscription in exergue: "COMITIA AMERICANA." Reverse shows battle scene with legend above: "VICTORIA LIBERTATIS VINDEX"; inscription below exergual line: "FVGATIS CAPTIS AVT CAESIS/AD COWPENS HOSTIBVS./XVII.JAN.MDCCLXXXI." Black plastic fitted case with red lining; accompanying booklet enclosed. These replicas were struck by the US Mint, Dept. of the Treasury, as the sixth in the US Mint's ten-piece series of pewter reproductions.
