stamped: (1), on front: "44" (crown above number; 44th British Regiment) stamped: (3-4), on front: "48" (48th British Regiment)
Silver or gilt military buttons; bone backs covered by thin faces stamped with regiment numbers and decorative designs; one gilt button has a beaded design and roped border; two other gilt buttons have their regiment number in center and a wreathed border; a silver button has its number in center and a crown at top.
These buttons were worn on the uniforms of British officers, and were found about 1888 in the garden of the DeHart house at Elizabeth, New Jersey.
