A segment of steel cable wrapped in copper wire and affixed to felt-covered presentation container, with accompanying wrapper and calling card. Card is engraved "Carl W. Jungen/ Lieutenant U.S. Navy"and handwritten: "Souvenir of Jamaica-Santiago cable cut May/ 18, 1898, American Spanish War, by U.S. S. St. Louis/ and U.S. S. Wampatuck while under fire of the forts of/ Santiago de Centa for 50 minutes, with compliments"
Gallery Label: 
According to the wrapper accompanying this piece, Lt. Jungen had been on the U.S.S. Maine and had commanded U.S. S. Wampatuck. It was presented to the Naval Historical Society after the 1925 donation, in 1933.
