No original flag survives from the Revolutionary battle of Bunker Hill. This reproduction of the John Trumbull version, after his painting of 1785-6, is based on the Massachussetts ensign. Although, it has been debated whether there was a flag flown on the hill at all. Current historians do not believe there was one, but Trumbull himself witnessed the battle, so it is possible that a flag of this type was flown or carried by a Massachussetts regiment.
