Fan with ivory guards with figurative ornament made of mother of pearl applied to tip and applied silver decoration, plain ivory sticks, and paper leaf with white obverse with four figures seated in a garden setting painted at center and small, highly detailed applied gold decorative motifs bordering edges.

According to the accession records, this is the wedding fan of Abigail Cooney (1700-1777), daughter of Boston silversmith John Cooney. Abigial Cooney married Edward Bromfield in 1723.
