The subject of this portrait was the daughter of William de Groot and Elizabeth King (Hawley) de Groot. She married Giulio Caravadossi, Conte d'Aspremonte, at the Hofburg Chapel, Vienna, on June 25, 1898. The subject, who was about five when this portrait was made, was the daughter of the artist. The portrait was a gift to the Society from the subject's sister.
