Eisenhower Peace and Prosperity Medal

Inscription: obverse, at lower left of field: "J. J./SC."
Bronze struck medal with obverse having clothed bust of Eisehower, full face, with legend above: "PEACE AND PROSPERITY." Reverse contains inscription : "DINNER WITH/IKE/1960", followed by rendering of Eisenhower's signature, with laurel branch and sheaf of wheat below. Two circular loops attached at top center.
This medal was designed and minted on occasion of the seventh anniversary of Eisenhower's presidency. The original gold medal was presented to Dwight Eisenhower on January 27, 1960 during a dinner held in the Pan Pacific Union Auditorium in Los Angeles. On the same day, more than 70 dinners were simultaneosly held accross the country to mark the seventh year of the Eisenhower Administration. Bronze replicas of the original gold medal, such as this example, were distributed among dinner guests.
