Circular plate decorated with blue underglaze; border of trellis diaper and four floral reserves; center with peonies, bamboo, rock, and fence.
Linda Shulsky Pomper notes about this dish: X.520 is quite similar to a piece in the Topkapi catalogue, vol 3, p 1084, #2461, which they date to c. 1730-50. More important, it is similar to pieces found in the wreck of the Geldermalsen, a Dutch ship that left Canton in 1752 and then sank before getting back to Holland.
