Description: 
Cast silver dessert knife with a threaded handle, cast in vertical halves, with a molded handle socket fitted with a flat, curved blade; handle engraved, "Beals" in script; maker's marks stamped on the blade.

This dessert knife belonged to Frances Augusta Beals(1815-1897), born in Boston, MA to William Beals (1785-1870) and Dorothy Whitney Beals (1797-1876). William Beals was the founder of the "Boston Post." Frances Augusta married George Baker (1818-1854) of Boston May 20, 1844. She gave this dessert knife to the donor's mother at the time of her marriage to Fellowes Davis in 1871.
