Description:
Porcelain cup and saucer with shaped edges; blue underglaze rim border of abstract flowers, leaves, and circles with scrolling edges; polychrome enamel scene inside cartouche with gilded, low-relief edge depicting commercial scene with two merchants and two customers; cup handles molded with four spurs.

According to the donor, this set of four cups and saucers belonged to the Honorable James Beekman and family and were used at Mt. Pleasant.
