Pewter altar cruet with plain thumbpiece and hoop handle.
According to the donor, this is an altar cruet used in colonial times. This cruet is probably one of a set of two vessels used to hold vino (wine) and water in religious ceremonies. The engraved letter "A" on the lid is an abbreviation for aqua (water). The set would also likely include a chalice.
