Description:
Molded porcelain tea service consisting of one teapot; all pieces are hand painted with blue scalloped borders with sets of two peach flowers and gold outlines with gold stylized floral and foliate sprays, grapes, palmettes; holloware forms have additional band of undulating vine with leaves and flowers, in gold and gold flourishes on handles.
Gallery Label:
According to the donor, the tea service belonged Elizabeth (Weaver) Greenwood (1764-1831), wife of Dr. John Greenwood (1760-1819) of New York City. The painted marks "Spode" with pattern number was used from 1790-1820; the printed mark "C" was used ca.1815-1827.
