Description:
Sateen woven cotton corset with a square neckline constructed by mostly machine-stitching; decorated with a machine top-stitched quilted design of rectangles, ivy and clover shapes; embroidered in the front with stars, heart filled shields and the inscription, "ETW/ Aug 1842" (possible anniversary date) in copper and blue thread; eleven ivory grommets up each side of the closure (ties not extant); trimmed with cotton twill tape.
