Constance Evelyn and Maud Antonia were twin daughters born in 1855 at "Carnwath," Duchess County, New York, to Francis Robert Rives (1822-91) and Matilda Antonia (Barclay) Rives (1824-88). Their father was a lawyer in New York. Constance Rives married John Borland on June 24, 1884; her husband died in Washington, D.C. in 1893. Maud Rives became the wife of Walker Breese Smith on May 23, 1882. Maud Smith died at Newport, R.I., in 1923; her sister Constance died at Gloucester, Mass., in 1914.
