Reverse contains inscription at center enclosed by laurel wreath: "DURING THE/SEPOY MUTINIES/A.D. MDCCCLVII."; surrounding legend: "DEDICATED TO THE BRAVE DEFENDERS OF OUR INDIAN EMPIRE."
