Cane collector Lou Grumet acquired a number of antique canes related to iconic American leaders, and then broadened his collection by commissioning Vancouver yacht maker and cane carver Ivan Wilson to create a cane commemorating explorer Henry Hudson, the namesake of the Hudson River and Hudson Bay. A statue of Hudson in a Riverdale park can be seen from the Hudson and Harlem rivers and from the Henry Hudson Parkway. A portrait bust of Hudson in Elizabethan collar caps the cane, and his ship the Half-Moon is etched into the shaft.
