De Witt Clinton 1831 Albany/Schenectady Train.
After Lou Grumet acquired a number of antique canes depicting iconic New York places and people, he commissioned Vancouver yacht maker and cane carver Ivan Wilson to create a cane commemorating the Dewitt Clinton, the first steam train to run successfully. The train ran from Western Avenue in Albany to Schenectady, New York. It was named after the governor who promoted the building of the Erie Canal and also the New York City street grid system. The carved handle of the wooden cane depicts the train.
