Description:
Bronze die-struck medal with obverse depicting armored bust of Joan of Arc facing right, holding in front a sword in her right hand; surrounding legend: "BEATA JOANNA D'ARC/CHRISTI MILES." Reverse shows seated semi-nude draped allegorical figure of France, with shield in her left hand, bearing coat of arms of the family of Jacques d'Arc granted by Charles VII; in her right hand is an emblazoned heart; surrounding legend: "POVR L'HONNEVR DE LA FRANCE/MCCCCXXXI." Medal inset into book-like clothbound presentation case bearing gold embossed logo with portrait of Pisanello at upper right corner of cover and number "12" on upper section of spine; woodblock-printed bookplate with initials "JMA" pasted inside front cover.
