Description:
Seamed silver cigar case; oval body with straight sides, a long bezel, and a domed cover; engraved and wheel turned horizontal stripes all around the body and cover; engraved on the top, "L C M" in script; engraved on the front of the cover, the motto, "SOLA VIRTUS INVICTA" in roman letters around a crowned lion's head erased over a crown; on the body, "George Zabriskie/ Gratitude/ R. M. G." in script; on the reverse, "J. H. T./ T. J. Pottinger/ to/ Wm. Arnold" in script over, "to/ John Hall" in block letters; no maker's marks.
