Christina Mary Nichols (ca. 1895-?) was the daughter of George Livingston Nichols, a prominent New York corporation lawyer in the 1880s and 1890s, and Mary (Ruxton) Nichols. She married Walter Kerr Rainsford (ca. 1882-1947) in 1923. This portrait, which shows the subject at the age of about twelve, was probably painted in Paris.
