Eight chevrons: various numbers of brown felt chevrons stitched to brown felt backgrounds; these are mounted on a rectangular paper board with a basket-design cotton cover.
These chevrons were worn on the jacket sleeves of U.S. Army soldiers during World War I. They indicate various rankings, from corporal to sergeant-major.
