Description: 
Leather, wood, and brass cartridge box; rectangular black leather box with two vertical loops for shoulder belt riveted to rear, and double flaps with strap on outer flap that fastens to brass stud at bottom of box; box contains stepped wooden block with thirty-nine bored holes for cartridges.

This cartridge box was formerly part of the Francis Bannerman collection. It was probably used with a carbine.
