Brass badge; in shape of an eagle perched atop a globe, which is crossed by an anchor; soldered at three spots on back.
This badge was found in the files of the N-YHS Field Exploration Committee. It was probably part of a collection of replicas of 18th and 19th century buttons and military badges owned by William L. Calver, the Committee's chairman. It is of the type worn by U.S. Navy personel during the Civil War period.
