Description:
Seamed silver card case in a red leather case; rectangular body with rounded corners and scalloped sides; hinged lid with bezel; chased and applied flowers and foliate c and s-scrolls on each side of the body with banner reserves in the centers; banner on one side engraved, "J. A. Meade" in script; maker's mark, "D" stamped on the bezel; rectangular red leather case with tooled scrolls on the flat domed lid; hinged on one side, hook and eye clasp on the other; interior lined with white satin on the bottom and red velvet inside the lid.
Gallery Label:
This card case was given to Josephine A. Meade (b. 1825), the mother of the donor, by her father Walter Meade circa 1843.
