Bronze struck medal with obverse showing shield with the arms of the City of Philadelphia flanked by two female allegorical figures; reverse is inscribed: "TESTIMONIAL/TO/CAPTAINS/CRIGHTON (sic), LOW AND STOUFFER./OF THE SHIPS/THREE BELLS, KILBY, AND ANTARCTIC./FROM THE CORPORATION/OF THE/CITY OF PHILADELPHIA./FOR THEIR GALLANTRY IN RESCUING/THE PASSENGERS FROM THE WRECK OF/THE STEAMER/SAN FRANCISCO/JANUARY 1854."
