Description:
Pair opaque white alabaster pressed lead glass candlesticks; hexagonal standard with blue rim above hexagonal mushroom-shaped knop on hexagonal columnar standard on circular lobed base; entire candlestick painted and gilded with bands and floral garlands and sprays; bottom heavily cut in rays radiating from center.
Gallery Label:
Though stylistically these candlesticks would appear to date from the mid-nineteenth century, their lack of wear or deterioration, and their similarity to other reproduction candlesticks, suggest that they are twentieth century.
