Wrought iron calipers with central hinge and cast maker's marks.
Gallery Label:
According to the donor, David Griffith made his own tools while he served as a naval Marine constructor during the Civil War. He later worked for the American Drudging Company in Camden, New Jersey, and as an engineer for Fairmont Waterworks in Pennsylvania.
