Brown stained and lacquered wood handle, with black at top of handle, tapers to a point and bulges toward ferrule. Conical, seamless metal ferrule, Black bristles.
According to the accession records, this tabouret was used by Asher B. Durand, an artist and engraver best known for his Hudson River school paintings.
