Stamped "WINSOR & NEWTON" and "6" on handle. Three rows of "III" pattern encircle base of ferrule.
Yellow varnished wood handle, tapers to point. Seamed, cylindrical, metal ferrule. Black and white (squirrel?) bristles.
According to the accession records, this tabouret was used by Asher B. Durand, an artist and engraver best known for his Hudson River school paintings.
